Fuck it
Keef/Gaz
Because Keef likes making friends, is virtually indestructible, and thinks Gaz is cool! And Gaz who legitimately doesn’t know how to deal with emotions, and hasn’t actually told Keef to leave her alone because she kinda likes having him around
Keef who’s so kind and genuine that when he compliments Gaz it’s a real compliment—and Gaz hasn’t.....heard a compliment in a long time.
People tend to avoid her, and Dib is kind of the only person who talks to her on a regular basis. She acts like she prefers being alone, but really she’s kinda lonely, it’s just that people don’t want to get to know her and have all these wild assumptions about her, so to protect herself, she leans into them—yeah, she’s Gaz, she’s scary and mean and not even pretty but it’s ok bc she’s better than all of you idiots!
But then Keef comes around and starts sitting with her, following her around, chatting to her. And she’s annoyed at first, because she can’t read his intentions and thinks he’s a pushover. She makes him do stuff for her—hold her bags, get her lunch, etc—and after a while she realizes he’s legitimately paying attention to her and listening to her. When he gets her lunch it only has her favorites on it, he carries around spare batteries for her GameSlave, he sees when she starts to twitch from overstimulation and guides her to a quieter place. He remembers her birthday and her favorite color and the way she eats her pizza. And she didn’t tell him any of this—he just....cared enough to notice. And that’s more than what anyone else in her life has ever done.
And, well, Keef thinks she’s really pretty, and the first time he tells her that, she gets so flustered she punches him through the ceiling, bc she doesn’t know how to deal with any of her feelings except through violence. But she’s tried to beat up keef before—and he’s always fine somehow? So he just pops right back up, dusts himself off, and trots back up to her.
Gaz who never felt pretty, and who leaned into the “not like other girls” internalized misogyny....but who really wanted to feel pretty and try all of those girly pretty things. Keef does her nails and they do face masks together and he shows her how to French braid her hair. They become friends before anything else and she has her first sleepover with him. They watch movies and make milkshakes and Gaz laughs out of pure joy for the first time in a long time.
She wears a tiny bit of mascara and lipgloss and she’s so nervous to wear it out in public but keef notices and just
“My goodness, Gaz-LENE! You look so pretty!”
And she shyly shoves him through a table.
Keef holds her hand and she accidentally breaks his fingers bc she’s so nervous.
And the whole time keef is just so enamored by her and thinks she’s the cutest thing on the planet. Everything about her is cute to him—the way she focuses so hard on her games, the way her eyes light up when he brings her pizza, the way she punches through whoever gets in her way, the way she smiles behind her hands when he does her hair
And they both wanna protect each other so much. Gaz with her signature intimidation—fists and threats. But keef knows how to protect her too, since no one expects KEEF of all people to threaten them with an innocent smile and the coldest eyes.
When he kisses her for the first time on the cheek she short circuits to the point where she can’t even lash out like she normally does and just sort of curls up on the ground and keef just holds her with a lovesick sigh as she processes what happened
