It's an intensely diasporic choice(to me): the things you don't share can't be taken from you. They cannot be assimilated, or misunderstood, or changed. Pop culture, western culture, the memes and the jokes, those are safe to share and expose to time and misunderstanding. Who the hell cares if the word "cavalier" has changed so much in the mouths of people who don't even know what a horse is? in a series where frankly not a lot of experiances are relatable to your average person, i feel like the fandom and the canon can come together and collectively agree that there is something incredibly wrong with this character specifically.
