scratch.mit.edu, a coding site intended for children to learn how to do programming with blocks recently released a new TOS that is directly intertwined with generative ai and does not allow for a lot of privacy for children on the site. The Issues with Gaehive Management
I know I’ve only managed DbD for about a year, but I do think that’s enough time for me to have experience to speak on this situation. I feel like the biggest issue is that some Hive managers don’t understand that being a manager is essentially just a glorified curator. There ARE added responsibilities, but managing is not all that. There’s no reason to act all pretentious about it. Asking questions such as “How can we reply to curators better?” is so out of touch and puts this artificial divide between managers and curators (seriously, just treat curators the same way you’d treat other managers; it’s not that hard and it’s no different). From what I can tell, treating management like a prestigious friend group is a huge part in what’s causing all this drama
