mhhh honestly i hadn't read the books since i was a preteen nor interacted with the fandom when i found your blog, so i can't really counteract most arguments because they're literally the only canon i know lmao. The only things I kind of disagree with are either headcanons (like while I ship Aro and Carlisle, I like to imagine different dynamics for them) so I definitely can't argue with that, and I think Edward is an asshole and talks a big game but isn't actually capable of doing SOME of the truly evil shit in the metas (like for example I love nebuchadnezzar(?)'s dream, botb and prm/tltic to death but I love ftloaw's Edward the most because he' s closer to the version I have of him) + I think if confronted with bella's mortality he would have eventually turned her, and the chances of him eating her are closer to 50/50 (as long as he's somehow reciprocated). Aaaand that's pretty much all I disagree with. Us readers are all sheep, sorryšš

17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?
Re: work, there is sometimes a significant difference between what I intended and what readers seemed to get.Ā
Undercover Ops is a tragedy. People make the wrong choices over and over and Paranoid Bella becomes the worst possible version of herself. She goes from being a reasonably kind and generous person to someone that spends her free time torturing and murdering people for her own amusement. Most people were more upset that she wasnāt popular at work? I donāt think the horror of her actually literally torturing someone really landed, which is probably on me as a writer.Ā
Overall people seemed to get what I was trying to do. Honestly I expected more backlash for the bummer ending, though I think the fact that Lauren got her HEA made Bellaās predicament easier to digest.Ā

18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
Initially Undercover Ops was going to follow @theoriginalcarnivorousmuffinās Paranoid Bella outline, which would end up with a big confrontation in Volterra where Bella finally gets to yell at Edward and then join the Volturi. I planned a big set piece conversation in the waiting room between Bella and Gianna about the value of human life and what it meant to be a vampire, with an eventually bittersweet ending where Bella got to join the Volturi and be happy (and get with Renata).Ā
However, in the writing process enough things changed that the ending planned would no longer be feasible, so we got the bitter ending instead where Bella betrays everyone she knows for a chance at staying alive and becomes the annoying coworker who murders children and tortures people on the side.Ā
Also there was a massive deleted scene in Undercover Ops where Lauren rouses Bella from her depression and they have a Very Deep Conversation about a dead guinea pig named Fuzzy Baby and parenting styles. It was very gay and fairly heartwarming. Vinelle ruled it out for being too on the nose, which was probably the right move. RIP Fuzzy Baby, we barely knew ye.Ā
It's annoying to see people only remark on ftlofaw's supposed depravity, when it's so brilliantly written! You guys really nailed it with Jacob's inner monologue, it's hilarious and always in character, and how edward's behavior towards him is creepy and manipulative in a way that's never too obvious or in your face. I do get the sense of dread some people mentioned, mostly because Jacob and Edward's misogyny is pretty heavy to read sometimes. I would literally die for a fic about bella's side in that whole mess.
