Aspen couldn’t be more worried. She was so close to graduating, this would throw a wretch in her plan, if it was true. She couldn’t be pregnant. I mean, sure, her and Gabe hadn’t been safe for about the past year. But this hadn’t been her plan. Her and Gabe weren’t even engaged. Yet, she couldn’t deny that she was showing signs. Especially talking to Grace, yesterday on the phone, if anything confirming her symptoms and that she needed to take a test sooner rather than later. That’s why, when she had been out grocery shopping today, only for a few things, she had grabbed about 5 tests. She began unloading the bags and went into the apartment, careful to avoid Gabe. In hopes that he wouldn’t see what was in one of the bags. She didn’t want to say anything to him until she was one hundred percent. She set the bags down in the kitchen before starting to unload them. Hoping that she could finish getting through the bags before Gabe could come into to the kitchen to see the tests.

Everything was starting to set itself into place. A few months after her birthday, Aspen and Gabe had found an apartment about 15 minutes from her campus. They were planning on moving in today and bringing some of the little stuff with them, while Grace and Gigi would be coming up next Friday with some of the bigger stuff. Now, however, they were almost to their apartment which was just a simple two bedroom, perfect for them. When Gabe pulled into the complex and parked the car, Aspen turned to him. “It feels a bit surreal, that we’re doing this. You know?”

Aspen felt like she couldn’t breathe. After coming home to celebrate her 18th birthday, with her friends and her family, she knew she had to tell her dad that her and Gabe were back together. She let them stay happy a few days, with her sneaking off every night to see Gabe and their friends. It had been after a birthday brunch with her dad and some co workers and of course their sons when she finally flipped when they got home. She told him everything, she told him about the run in at the coffee shop and that they got back together. She also had to add in that even if they were together there was no way that she would date any of his co-workers sons.

There had been a lot of screaming after that from both of them. Aspen knew she should have waited till her mom was home. She couldn’t she was too tired of being forced to think of guys, other than her boyfriend. Then her dad had pointed to the door and the most calm voice had told her get out of his house. As soon as she heard that she stormed out and she knew exactly who to go to. She just wished she was in more comfortable clothes to make the walk to his house. Of course it didn’t help by now she had cried all that she could cry. This was not how she planned on spending her birthday. She had planned on going to brunch with just her dad, lunch and movies with her friends including Gabes’ little sister, dinner with both her parents and then a bonfire with her friends and at Gabes to end the night.

Now here she was trying to get to Gabe’s house. She had left her phone at her house so she wasn’t able to call him and ask for a ride. Granted she could barely talk right now. She was relieved to finally make it to his street and onto his street and to his house. This was more home to her than her house back home. She climbed the steps of the porch and slowly knocked on the door, she still had tear stains on her face and was really thankful that at least part of her make-up was water proof. She heard footsteps approaching the door and desperately hoped that it was Gabe, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to face his mom or sister, looking like this.
