Glock 26 (Polymer80 lower, RockSlideUSA upper)
Gen5 Glock Problems
I've noticed a few issues with the new glocks including my brand new gen5 26.
Video shows that the new ambi slide lock refuses to go back to a resting position on it's own. This issue happens about 70-80% of the time and seems to be due to both a weak spring and the slide lock itself contacting the plastic frame, a mixture of the two means the spring doesnt have enough force to overcome the friction and must be manually operated to put the gun back into battery. I will attempt to relube the gun and slide lock components, and put some rounds downrange to see if it just needs to work itself in. Frankly this is still unacceptable and I believe the gun should be trustworthy out of the box.
The second issue is not one I've had personally, but I discovered through photogenic_firearms on the Instagrams. He experienced the issue with the new G45 (non tactical 19x). It appears a mix of split frame rails and the duel slide cuts to accommodate the ambi slide catch can actually cause the slide to become derailed and stuck when assembling the firearm. My 26 seems to not have this issue due to the shorter barrel and slide, but I can still recreate the problem.
Above are the split frame rails and the slide stop cuts in the slide. Pictures are of my 26.
First picture is photogenic_firearms and his g45, his video actually showed the problem happening as you assembled the gun. The second picture is a close up of my 26, but like previously stated, I had to set up my gun as the shorter slide seems to not have the same issue.
--------
These seem to be two of several issues the Gen5 is having and I'm asking for anybody who has similar or different issues to follow them up in this thread, so I can find them in the same place.
Dont get me wrong, I actually like the gun, but these seem like some very simple problems to find and solve coming from a company as big as glock.
