Are memes open for all, or would you prefer a different interaction for newcomers?
sorry i didn’t get to this sooner for you! been busy with my shitty work schedule. BUT
memes are a wonderful way for me to meet new comers! i highly encourage anyone that i don’t have a thread with yet to send in a meme, because it’s something that is either a) chosen from a list and you pick something that is in your characters voice so it’s great and easy way to start a conversation or scenario, or b) an incident that you think your character would get caught up with mine ( such as memes like getting punched, saving them from fires, helping them with a flat tire, etc. ).
also while i do prefer memes to be mutuals only, since this is a private blog, if you happen to message me and plot some ideas with me, i’d love to reply to some non-mutual stuff as well even if i won’t put it on priority.
Is Vlad good with money and politicking nowadays?
To sustain the kind of lifestyle that Vlad enjoys in the modern world, he still requires finances, and though his extraordinary powers might easily enable him to gain money or goods through criminal means he has usually disdained this route. He has a certain skill which enabled him to find hidden hoards abandoned during the many wars in Europe, and of these sources, made wise investments over time, so that he has now amassed a reasonable amount of capital and several properties as well as his castle and Carfax. Nowadays he uses human financial institutions, including investment brokers, under the name of various ‘trusts’ as well as the Vampire banking system - which of course does not question his longlevity, to maintain an income so that he does not really need to work- the antiquarian bookshop being just a cover.Though not ostentatious by nature, he likes to dress well and to keep his houses in a comfortable state, also to have the means to do as he wishes and to travel as humans do so that he can accompany Mina and maintain the semblance of being human.As to politics, he has little interest in human affairs unless they impinge upon him, though he has occasionally made some ‘adjustments’ in his homeland when he felt that it was needed. He tends to view the politicians like the Boyar class that he hated of old for their exploitations.As for Vampire politics, he enjoys an elevated status as an Elder, and is generally welcomed and accorded respect in most circles, especially in London, Paris and Romania, however he also has some rivals and enemies in those circles too, for he can be outspoken and is not one for following “party line”. He is a bit of a maverick, as he was in life, dislikes polticking generally, and prefers to keep out of it for the most part, only weighing in if he feels he absolutely must.

I find it a bit hokey that Mirena's reincarnations would be actual replications. What if it were more to the tune of finding a woman who embodies the soul, but is obviously not the likeness? A completely unexpected vessel each time. The search all the more difficult. A woman maybe not even that attractive, homely. Still a worthy pursuit? To have something familiar seeming but not looking???

It would make it an interesting quest for Vlad certainly and I think somewhere I have a headcanon that over time he could have missed her many times because she did not look anything like Mirena, she may even have been a man, or a child or elderly when he crossed her path again, and he initially did not understand that until he studied the subject properly- possibly through meeting an Eastern philosopher who had that understanding. It is not necessarily impossible but I think very rare to have a similar form, but I guess for the movie’s sake it makes it easy to have the same actress to play the role. I know some people hate the reincarnation idea altogether but i like it because it gives him a purpose beyond revenge and blood drinking - it gives him a shot at a kind of redemption, and allows the possibility that he is not 100% evil because he can love.If this idea was played out, I think the bond between them was very strong and he would still be able to love the person as they were, though the relationship might be different according to their physicality. He might even find himself very attracted to someone completely out of character for him, only to realise it was because it is her soul within, that he is drawn to them. Some nice AU’s possible there.

You’re right about that, and he has found time does not generally ease his irritation with certain things… autocorrect for instance.He hates flying by plane, though there have been times when it has been the only practicable way to cross continents quickly as flying over long distances is not possible in bat form. He always feels anxious being trapped in a flying metal box with the possibility of suddenly being doused in sunlight if there are time zones to cross or unexpected delays. Partly it’s because he’s in a circumstance out of his control. He much prefers going by boat on long journeys but of course that’s time consuming. He has something of a rebellious nature, is fiercely independent and hates to be in any situation where he is not free to act or is under someone else’s control. This may stem from his time as a hostage to the Turks, and being forced to fight for them, or just innate to him. This is partly why he refused to be the Master Vampire’s pawn and though it has cost him much he will never accept it.
I think Vlad has a soft spot for bat pups.... and lets them snuggle in his coat pockets perhaps?
