Once Lucius was certain that all but one of his guests were properly entertained he snuck out of the hall. He had somewhere to be and it wouldnāt do to leave people wondering where he went while he looked for someone who should be in the room with them, but of course he was the only one who would bother looking for the other.
His steps grew in length as he proceeded, opening all doors in his path, until he was sprinting down the hallway.
Lucius thought about calling on one of the elves for assistance, but the thought of needing help to track down James Rosier in his own home was laughable at best.
Luckily he wouldnāt have to go that far. He found the man he was looking for in a study, examining a cabinet, no doubt planning on what to pilfer.
Lucius would never understand how or why James made it into the Dark Lordās inner circle. He had never shown particular talent, very strong beliefs in the cause, or a fanatical quasi-suicidal loyalty. Much as Lucius wanted to get rid of mudbloods he wouldnāt have joined the Death Eaters if he didnāt anticipate rewards for his services, if he didnāt expect greatness, and James Rosier was antithetical to greatness.
āWonāt you come back to the party?ā The blonde spoke with forced civility. If James was willing to give back anything heād taken, go back to the main and start acting halfway decent, Lucius would be willing to refrain from hexing him āWeāve been missing you.ā

Lucius exited Knockturn Alley with a smile on his face and pockets full of dark arts artifacts. Free time was becoming increasingly harder to come by and he almost never had the time to visit some of his favourite stores. Thus, when the opportunity to check the new goods at Borgin and Burkeās arose he was happy to take it.
He was about to return home to test out the purchases, when a familiar figure made him stop dead in his tracks. Standing just in front of the archway that lead to Knockturn alley was none other than Sirius Black.
Lucius made a point not to associate with Sirius (and any other blood-traitors for that matter) and he would ignore the other in normal circumstances, but that was far too close to a hub for dark magic and Sirius couldnāt be up to any good.
āSirius. What a surprise to see you here.ā He smiled, but it was strained. His thoughts were closer to āwhat a surprise you have the courage to come so close to to a place frequented by people who would gladly kill you, myself includedā but he was in public and had to act accordingly. āItās been so long. What have you been up to?ā
@siriussly
Patrolling the hallways was one of the most boring duties prefects had to put up with, but it wasnāt as if being a prefect was any fun. The only things Lucius liked about his position were the bathroom, doling out detentions to students who annoyed him, and not being disowned by his parents for being a useless layabout.
Perks aside, there was another good part about his title. āOne is never served so well as by oneselfā. If he wanted things to work out a certain way, he was the one who had to do it, because none would do it for him ā and if the students who had been transporting the crystal balls in the divination room to the greenhouses needed to be caught, he was determined to be the one to do it.
That was easier said than done, though, especially when he had to way for another prefect to get started. Hermione Granger, a Ravenclaw a year younger than him, whom heād had the pleasure to never have talked to before. It was nothing personal: Lucius didnāt like many people, and none of the people he did like were or had been in that house ā odds were she would be just as any other. And she wasnāt late, but Lucius wanted to start as soon as possible, and he would still hold her not being there as early as him against her.
Thankfully, it wasnāt long until he spotted the girl, making her way down the hall
āGrangerā He greeted, turning his body sideways and extended a hand in a gesture that would be called chivalrous by someone who didnāt know him very well āShall we?ā
