Hafa Adai fellow Lost Tribe members! It is me, Grace, and I am back after a long time! I just wanted to share with all of you my most recent concert experience. I recently went back home to Guam and I am still here. (Yes it is very warm here and yes it is humid.) I was able to watch one of my idols, AJ Rafael, in concert! I watched it yesterday and I am having serious post-concert depression. BUT. I am so happy that I went to his concert. Anyways, if you don’t know, AJ Rafael is a Filipino songwriter and singer. He is awesome at the piano and honestly, he makes me proud to be Filipino. Ok so. THE POINT of this post is this: Do not judge a person. EVER. This is a theme that has been resonating with me for the longest time now and it was strengthened by AJ during his concert. This is because he basically had this whole speech on how representation matters and that it should not matter no matter what your circumstances are. We are all humans, when it comes down to it. He mentioned how representation matters and I believe that is right. But, I don’t think it will be “another 30 years for another “Crazy Rich Asians” to come out” (AJ said this, eep). It won’t be another 30 years BECAUSE of ME. Right now, I am simply a Theatre Major with a Minor in Mathematics and I’m still in school. BUT. I believe that one day in the future. I will collaborate with AJ Rafael because we both think the same thing, which is: Judging people is bad and should not even exist in the first place. For me, in the future, I want to change the way storytelling is done and I will do so with the plays that I will write. I still have a long way to go until I can hopefully meet AJ as a collaborator, but I will work and do my best until I reach that point.
