Today I went to my school to take my placement tests, make my schedule, and get my student id. I did as good on my placement tests as I could do considering I dropped out of high school half way through my freshman year. I placed at a college level in everything except math, which didn’t surprise me at all since on my HiSET I scored at a college level on everything, again, except for math.
This fall semester I will be taking Algebra 1, Bio 1 (with a lab), and English Comp 1. I spoke to an academic advisor and have decided that I’m going to be getting all of my prerequisites and non-nursing nursing program courses out of the way before I apply for the nursing program. Doing things this way will allow me to become a stronger applicant in the eyes of whoever is in charge of picking students for the program. It will also make it so I don’t have to kill myself to get all my prerequisites done before Feb 1st, 2016 which is the deadline for applying for the nursing program for fall of 2016. Also, by doing this once I am finally in the nursing program I will be able to really focus on the nursing classes and clinicals!
Having gotten my schedule done for this coming semester and getting my school id has really been kind of a wake up call to me. Things are finally starting to seem real to me, I’m actually going to college! It feels weird to say it because I almost still can’t believe it, but I am, I’m officially a college student and am going to be attending school in the fall!
