Fried Tofu BanchanÂ
INGREDIENTS:
Tofu:
1 block medium to firm tofuÂ
salt and pepper (for seasoning)
Marinade:Â
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 Tbsp gochugaru
1 Tbsp sugarÂ
2 Tbsp chopped green onionÂ
1/2 Tbsp sesame oilÂ
(it’s okay to guesstimate the amounts for the sauces)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Slice tofu into ~1/2 inch rectangular pieces. Pat dry with a paper towel.
Season both sides with salt and pepper. Coat in flour or cornstarch if you want them to be extra crispy.Â
Marinade - mix together marinade ingredients.Â
Place nonstick frying pan over medium heat. Add oil to coat the bottom.
Once hot, place the tofu slices in. You may have to do this in batches. Fry 4-5 minutes on each side, or until crispy but not burnt.
When it’s almost done cooking, spoon some of the marinade onto each piece (or pour all over). Save some to dress at the end!
Serve with a bowl of piping hot rice and a side of fresh kimchi.Â
Notes: 01/10/2022: yum! Super simple to make. A different version of dubujjorim.Â
