ABOUT FUTURE PROGRESS AU:
I'm not great at writing to be honest, but until I get that shit figured out, I'll be posting small bits and pieces about my AU, using the #Future Progress AU rambles so it's easier to find. Basically sharing a few more ideas about it until I am able to write out full chapters.
{ GENERAL DESCRIPTIONS + CHARACTER COMPARISONS } :
Past Illusion Steve: (in canon) In the beginning when he was first introduced, it was explained from the get-go how he only had one purpose: to fulfill his Creator's whishes. His most wanted wish at the time was for the people he care about (and the whole world) to be safe, to make sense again. Cold, calculated, and efficient, Illusion Steve turned his wish into reality, quite literally, after catching Sabre off-guard from the start (when Time Steve 'came back' after Sabre found Galaxy Steve), then stealing Alex's powers.
Fast forward, he absorbs his Creator, wanting to no longer be under his influence, and attempts to leave his reality, in search of greater power: he then quickly realizes it's literally impossible to comprehend all that was presented to him and to keep himself together at the same time, basically ending up traumatised. Barely managing to join The Steve Saga Server again (TSS) without so much as a scratch (although it wasn't mentioned how while looking through the Menus, he no longer was attached to his physical form), now he is unable to go back to who he previously once was. Passive-Aggressive, although still terrified of everything he just saw (and maybe of Sabre too?), desperately gripping at whatever ounce of sanity he had left, then deciding to 'fit-in' with Sabre's group in search for any kind of leverage over them (or any sense of normally it could've offered at first), it becomes pretty clear just how unstable and irrelevant he feels/is, though desperately trying to hide it however way he can. From what I've noticed, he clinged to Sabre the most, listening to his words in hopes that he might hold pity for him OR to try and turn things around for his own gain, but ultimately became dissapointed.
After finally relenting and deciding to separate himself from Galaxy Steve, irritated he leaves everything behind, never to be seen again...
Present/Future Illusion Steve (Lulu/Lu for short) : A full decade has passed since the infection and the world reset happened, he has, in short, learned to appreciate the unusual and the mistery behind everything around him: instead of losing his mind completely from almost erasing himself from existence, including moving on from his previous life alone with all of that baggaged trauma now, instead he doubles down and decides on learning about his reality and the outside world AGAIN, except now he's no longer inexperienced, nor does he feel the need to control others or take away people's freedom to achieve his goals. Down to earth, calm, now with a 'go with the flow' type of attitude, and notably kinder, he meets Sabre again. Their interations are awkward and unnerving at first, but he slowly grows fond of him and his nervous attitude after spending so much time together (their meetings/hangouts are rarely planned btw). He's layed back, his appareance now slightly different. It is said how a person's eyes are the window to their soul, him being no exception to it: staring long enough into those deep violet eyes, you can almost see something shift inside them, small but vibrant enough to notice, a new-found hope and interest for life, along with everything it has to offer...
He remembers watching the world around him evolve one day, reality changing in real time (basically multiple minecraft updates happening, making things look significantly more 'realistic') . Everyone's anatomy changed so they, in short, resembled more to humans instead (although he had no idea about this). Nothing but their anatomy changed of course, and this exact change is what caused Illusion Steve's wanting to learn about *why* and *how* did these things happen. He had a feeling Sabre was related to all of this, but didn't want a repeat of the past, so he pushed his curiosities aside and instead prioritised helping the Steves around him and building them newer, better homes to suit their needs with Sabre (both unintentionally and intentionally in some occasions) helping him aswell.
He slowly learns more about 'The Truth' through heated conversations with Sabre (happening later in the story) , pressuring him to admit quite a lot of things. To say he was shocked at first was an understatement, but he quickly adapted and (despide Sabre being afraid he'd get exiled from this world, called a horrible person AND friend), Illusion Steve instead decided the best course of action is to Listen And Not Judge. Funny, isn't it? After many uncomfortable conversations (and using the dictionary for many terms lol), their relationship slowly but steadily flourishes a bit more over time, until... idk I have yet to decide here what happens between them here lmao.
It's a "curiosity killed the cat (in the past), but satisfaction brought it back (in the present/future)" type of situation in short. Lotta cosmic horror moments that I won't spoil Yet (that will be presented for BOTH versions of Illusion Steve), but who knows.
