It was a rare moment of deferential silence from the group gathered. The young adultâs eyes bright with anticipation as they waited, attention fixed upon the docked airship before them. The group was a motley bunch, xaela and miqoâte and hyur and various mixes of that and more.  Some were older in their mid 20s while some younger, just moons past coming of age. They were standing further back than was needed just in case everything went sideways, theyâd learned that lesson years ago the first time they were gathered to witness a dream coming to life.Â
Within the airship it was a scramble of activity, one of the older âchildrenâ monkeying about in the guts of the ship while one of the younger sat at the helm. The violet eyes of the half elezen scanned over the various instruments on the panel before him.  âCheck, check, check... Terbbie, did you check the pressure for the...âÂ
âYes yes! By the gods Adrien, everything is perfectly _fine_ down here. Just turn the damn engine on will you!  Weâve been over this a dozen times now. Plllleaaassee letâs make this baby fly!â Even over the crackly speaker the impatience was easy to hear in Terbishâs voice, particularly since she used his full name for once. Wincing and rolling his eyes at the same time Adrien responded. Â
âFine, fine! Get up here then.â
The happy squeal was almost piercing over the speaker and then thump of stairs and ladder rungs being taken two at a time as was her habit sounded throughout the ship. Heâs all but pounced when she skids to a halt and wraps an arm around his shoulders.  âThis is it Adri. Instead of staring up at the sky in wonder or trying to beg the use of others airships, we can fly in our own.âÂ
He was as excited as she was, but also tense. He wanted this to be perfect, every detail reverently seen too as it should be. The sky was not something to be tamed easily, it demanded respect, obeisance even or it would swallow you whole.Â
Terbish shook her head at his silence, knowing exactly what he was thinking.  It was always the same thing in this moment.  âSo serious still, Adri?  Well common. I did my job, time to do yours big-shot pilot.â  An encouraging squeeze of his shoulder followed and she stepped away to give him the room to think that he always needed. Â
Her enthusiasm was infectious and he canât help but laugh, voice cracking a bit as nerves got to him. Embarrassed, he clears his throat then places his finger on the button with a flourish to draw attention from the hint of a blush on his cheeks. Her snicker was enough to tell him that the tactic wasnât effective.  Well... he still had something else up his sleeve. Â
âSo, once we are in the air going to christen the bunks with me Terbbie?âÂ
âChristen the.... ADRIEN LEARANC WALKER!!!!!âÂ
The xaelaâs yell was not quite drowned out by the roar of engines coming to life, the spritely airship bobbing into the air and staying there, only anchored by the mooring lines that held it do the deck. The collective gathered held their breath for the required 10 seconds to make sure that nothing was going to catch fire, then they cheered wildly blissfully unaware of the scuffle that had broken out on the main deck. At least not until Terbishâs voice rang out over the engines as they settled into the quiet purr of normal operation. Â

I keep having dreams about a young (14-15) meta-human boy in the DC universe who just cannot get the hero's to listen to him that hes not a rabid fan, he actually has powers and his power is a sonic boom he can do that sounds like the exploding cement truck from Mythbusters.
He can only do it four times before he starts to dangerously overheat and he starts coughing up bits of his lungs/esophagus (after using 3 times he guzzles one of those 5 gal. water tank things of ice tea to soothe his throat and cool off and any that spills literally evaporates once it touches his skin and just billows steam as hes drinking it) all he REALLY wants is for Black Canary to teach him how to use his power without fucking himself up.
But, as said, they wont even give him the time of day when he sees then at MeetN'Greets/Signings, and he doesnt wanna use it in public to prove it to them in case he hurts a bystander. So eventually he says fuck it, he'll train himself, joins a gang, learns to kick absolute ass and uses his power to blow enemies away if they start to outnumber him and his bros. And also blow up boats. He learns to REALLY like blowing up boats.
His bros keep trying to nickname him Sonic and get him to wear a blue hoodie and he threatens to "shout them apart". Aparently he's Skyrim trash too.
