I’ve been studying people’s blogging-, selfie sharing-, community building-, and identity practices on NSFW (Not Safe For Work) Tumblr blogs since 2011, yet it took a comment from the perspicacious Annette Markham, for me to start thinking about what the #NSFW label, tag, and concept could do as metaphor for research. “So,” Annette asked, driving a minivan through Stig-Larssonesque Scandinavian landscape: “what is it?
