Overheard in the library today: faith in the next generation of fanboys restored
Context: three boys ranging in age from seven to eight are looking at a visual dictionary of Star Wars characters
Tall Boy: (flips through pages talking about characters)
Little Boy: “Who’s that one?”
Middle Boy: “That’s Padme.” (he says this in a semi reverent tone)
Little Boy: (Squints at photo. It was evidently the pregnant Padme picture) “She fat?”
Middle Boy: (looks appalled at this comment). “That is a dress!” (not quite, kiddo, but you might be too young to know that)
Later, they come to a page all about Princess Leia. The main picture on the page is that of the princess in white with a gun. On the other page are numerous smaller pictures. The Tall Boy makes a horrified noise and slaps his hands down to cover one of the pictures.
Little Boy: “What? What is it?”
Tall Boy: (a little patronizingly) “You don’t need to see.”
Little Boy: “Why? What is it?”
Middle Boy: (very grimly) “She naked.”
Yep, they’d found that stupid metal bikini and the bigger boys were not thrilled about it.
Little Boy: “Naked? No she’s not! Let me see!”
Tall Boy: (sternest voice I’d ever heard a second grader use) “No! You don’t need ta be lookin at her when she naked!” (he promptly turns to a Darth Vader page, and a small debate ensues between Little Boy and Middle Boy over whether or not the dark lord celebrates Christmas. It is decided that he does.)
Little Boy: “He does! He does celebrate Christmas!”
Tall Boy: “Okay, fine. But he’s still evil.”
in summary: knowledgeable about Star Wars characters, particularly the female characters, disgusted by that awful bikini, and having debates over whether sith celebrate human holidays like Christmas. Yep, whoever their parents are, they’re raising ‘em right.
Attention Future Fans
Yes, you can ask here on tumblr, but I have an Ask.fm. Also Twitter, cause I'm funny--I swear.
I read a translation of my name once that was 'dark prince' (i shit you not)
(it actually means something abt dark hair I think)
but ever since my sister has called me 'little dark prince' when she's teasing me
and today
i realized
i'm not going to be a dark prince forever
someday, i'll be a dark LORD

Old idea with a twist: Promote your fave fests and pocket some dough
It's an old idea, but with a twist - promoting your favourite festivals while pocketing a commission for yourself. This is something Future Entertainment have started to do on a more 'official' scale through Future Fans; whereby they 'support you by supporting us'.
Basically, it's three steps to get started:
Fly the Flag: Select the festival you're passionate about.
Share the Love: Tell all your friends through your social networks.
Reap the Rewards: You get reward points, tickets, $$'s, or could even get a car depending on the number of successful promotions you have (methinks ticket sales).
I wonder if it will catch on? And, if it could potentially replace the usual marketing mix. I think it has already started to.
