400 sanded all around. No more tool marks anywhere. One of the best there is @gregderr @derrprecision recommend 400 for the parts and 600 for the flats. Hope to have this build in his hands for final slide work, sights, and Ionbond coating here in the future. Been working again getting the bullseye build ready for Ionbond treatment. Sanded down the @wilsoncombat Round Butt mag well. It showed I have some more final work to do on one side to get a flush fit all the way through. No progress this week on the six inch build. Waiting on a T-handle for the finish reamer for the barrel chamber. In stead I worked on my Colt New Agent. This was the first gun I ever bought and was my EDC for a very long time. However it has be come very unreliable and jams with pretty much any and all ammo and magazine selection. The extractor is as loos as you can make one in it and does not control rounds anymore. I have replaced the extractor with the EGW HD Extractor for series 80 as well as their firing pin stop. The extractor was an easy fit but the firing pin stop was a great challenge. Nice tight fit between the two part and now the extractor has zero play in it at all. Also took the time to fit a Colt commander safety. The old G.I. Safety just did not fit my taste. The safety has a great feel both to engage and disengage with a nice sharp snap. Also on the gun is the Wilson Combat round butt mag well and grips. Next will be a new barrel from Nowlin or Barsto. I worked on the firing pin, firing pin stop, and the extractor. The #caspianguns firing pin needed very little work. Just minor sanding and smoothing of the back end and it now floats very smoothly in the slide with an extra power firing pin spring from Wolff. Next was the EGW slide stop. Great quality part that needed fitting on the sides and it now has a very tight fit. I don’t like that it does not cover the whole bottom of the slide, it does leave a gap on the impact surface for the hammer. But great part other wise. I’m not a fan of the Caspian extractor and will be replacing it with an EGW. This one is way to long in the slide and protrudes past the breech face way to far. It worked great for my Government build but does not fit this Fusion slide ver well at all. After fitting the hook and pad on it still was to far forward. Fitted the barrels lower feet or lug today. This is not the first Ive done but I was shocked at how fast this one went. 20 min and I was done. Used the Browells lower lug cutter (0.195) and then had to do about 5 mind of filing after to smooth things out and it fits just perfect. Next was the #5 link. The measured lock up with and with out the slide stop is the same. Right at the max. So the barrel is in full lock up with the feet resting on the slide stop. Very tight lock up as well. I installed the EGW full length guid rod and she cycles just perfect. This is going to be a great target and comp gun. Next is the firing pen stop. Again. 2nd time. Lost the first one. Oops. Then sights. I have some Wilson Combat grips for now but will prob be looking or something different. Fitted the barrel hood. At the same time I honed the breach face to a perfect smooth flat face. Hood has a nice tight lock up with no side to side play. Found that the upper lug file from brownells is the a really useful tool here. Takes off just the right amount of material per file stroke. Dykem Blue is outstanding as well for seeing all those little rub marks.
