Ah unfortunately, there’s no guarantee on getting those kinds of spikes. The game chooses a random weekly pattern of increasing and decreasing prices. So yeah, you can’t really force a spike in your game.

There are guides you can refer to, such as this, that’ll explain those patterns. You might be able to predict which one you have for the week, however, there’s still a chance of financial loss if you happen to land on a bad week (which you won’t know right away).

What I suggest is to track the #turnipspike tag or keep tabs on blogs like turnipspike. Find someone offering to let people in their town to sell turnips and revel in your profit afterwards.

The suggested amount of turnips to invest in is a whole locker’s worth (1-2mil bells). That should bag you at least 7mil probably. It’s also common to tip your host 10% of your profit (or not if they don’t want).

And most importantly, please always show proper decorum when visting another’s town, i.e. don’t destroy anything, don’t steal, and follow their town rules if they have any.

Become best friends with villagers ! Do everything they ask, give them better than what they need. (perfect fruit, rare bugs/fish etc) ! Talk to them and make them happy ! Once they get to the point where they'll walk into your house uninvited, you're at pic-getting level :P
