What is Functional Setup Manager (FSM) ?
Functional Setup Manager (FSM) is a fully integrated setup tool in Oracle Fusion Applications which provides end-to-end guidance on processes to manage implementation and maintenance of the applications thru its life cycle. It can be accessed from the Setup and Maintenance work area in the application.

What's an offering?
It is the highest-level grouping of business functionality.Â
It typically is a starting point of application configuration.Â
Its the core driver of implementing Oracle Fusion Applications.
It groups one or more business processes and activities as a unit.Â
It includes optional business processes and rules known as options and features.
What's an option?
It is a specific functionality chosen for implementation from the offering. Â
It can be either included or excluded from it’s parent offering.
It is hierarchical in nature and can be subordinate to another option.
What's a feature?
It is alternative business method or rule used to fine-tune business processes and activities supported by an offering or an option.
FSMÂ specific terms -Â Â
Implementation Project - After the offering and functional area selection, the first step is to create an implementation project.
Task List - A setup task list is a hierarchical and logical grouping of related setup tasks which will be performed together.
Task - Task provide the navigation to the setup pages for initial configuration. A setup task allows to enter setup data and make it readily available for transaction processing.
Configuration Package - Completely packaged unit of an implementation project, its related business objects and data for moving from one instance to another.
