Recently there has been an influx of new homesteaders and the questions they ask most frequently are: 1.) Where do I start and 2) How on earth do you afford to do it and keep expanding? The answer is simple- delete Pinterest, log off instagram, and roll up your sleeves. This isn’t an aesthetic it’s hard work. If you aren’t into hard work- you probably should pick another fad. The heart of homesteading is and has ALWAYS been- using what you have, improvising what you lack, and purchasing ONLY what you absolutely must. If you are building a farm look alike for a wedding venue- yes you should worry with aesthetic, but that isn’t a working farm that’s a photo prop.
