Some time ago I read an article by a dad who was tired that people would ask whether he was ‘babysitting’ his children, as if it was an unusual thing for a man doing the things parents are meant to do, and I liked that. So here’s some badges I’m working on that celebrate the good guys, the men who don’t expect a pat on the back for the occasional nappy change, and who don’t see it as a big thing to be a parent looking after ones children. I chose a merman because I’ve always liked seahorse males carrying the eggs through gestation instead of the female, and thought perhaps this could be the same with mermaids, plus I think mermen can definitely carry off a cracking dad-bod.
