Derek making daisy chain headbands with his daughter
oh GOSH. Ā Laying out in the park with her next to him as they pick daisies. Ā Her lil voice going "no, papa, THIS one," because she's a little bit spoilt and used to getting her own way. Ā Derek hiding a smile as she v v seriously picks out the daisies for them to use, her forehead scrunched up as she concentrates.
She sits on his lap as he very carefully threads them together, taking his time and doing it right because she's his little girl and she deserves it. Ā And then after he's made it, and put it on her head, she squirms on his lap and turns around to face him, saying "now one for you, papa."
Obviously he can't say no, so he lets her pick more out for his one, and that's how Stiles finds them later in the park when he gets off work and meets them. Ā Stiles pouts and is like, "don't I get a headband?" and Lila nods furiously and pokes Derek in the shoulder going "papa, make one for daddy!".
Then they wear them the rest of the day, wear them home, and Lila doesn't take hers off until Stiles points out it'll get ruined in the bath. Ā Derek and Stiles both forget they have them on until it's time for them to go to bed and they stand in the bathroom laughing at their reflections.
Where do you think Derek and Stiles like to go for alone time? Like alone with thoughts? When stuff gets hard. Where do they go where they know the other will find them
I think Derek goes out into the preserve, maybe a spot where he and his family used to flop out after a full moon. Ā Where he and his siblings ran around as cubs, where their mom would corral them at the end of the night. Ā Itās not near the house, but itās also not too far out. Ā He sits and shifts and tries to think about the good memories instead of the bad. Ā I think itās a spot heās shared with Stiles ā because Stiles knows what itās like to have memories of someone you loved and lost scattered all over where you still live ā so Stiles knows that if he canāt find Derek anywhere else, heāll be there.
Stiles has a few, I think. Ā Thereās the cemetery, because it makes it easier to speak to his mom there. Ā But thereās also the playground where he would run and run and run and try to get rid of all his energy; the place where he and Scott would play whenever Scott had to be out of the house and away from his dad; the place where, when his mom got sick, heād go on the swings and try and swing up to the sky so that when she died, heād be where she was. Ā He told Derek those things late at night when he couldnāt sleep, and Derek never forgot.

oh i should read the raven cycle. i really liked shiver.
