The sun was lighting mercilessly on the small Toon temple. Fortunately for them, the leafy treetops and the wild-growing plants offered in their shadows a refuge from the inclement scorching heat.

They could hear the cicadas singing, some birds chirped melodiously hidden among nature. 

The brunette boy stopped in the middle of the stairs that led up to the temple of his grandmother's hometown, where he had gone to spend the summer holidays inviting his best friend who agreed immediately.

He had already finished his ice cream, stood next to him and looked at him with uncovered red eyes, eyes that made the song of the cicadas and the heat of the sun seem distant pieces of a poorly painted painting.
