For a long time, I was afraid to use Rez’s name publicly. I was afraid of retaliation, further slander, or escalation. That fear is real, and it’s telling that it existed at all.
I want to state a fact that people are welcome to ask him about directly: @reztkl was previously married to a woman who was a prominent and well-loved member of the foot and tickle community. She left the community abruptly around the time of their divorce. Out of respect for her, I will not name her.
What I will say is this: Rez did not disclose to me that he knew I had been friends with his ex-wife until we were already well into our friendship. I only discovered this after referencing a private conversation I had once had with her, at which point he stated that he remembered it. When I asked how that was possible, given that it was a private exchange, he struggled to explain.
That interaction made me deeply uncomfortable, and I told him so at the time. I raised concerns directly, and he defended himself. I accepted that explanation then. In hindsight, I regret dismissing my instincts.
I am no longer willing to protect other people’s secrets at the expense of my own safety or credibility. If there are questions about this history, they should be directed to him, not whispered around me.
