I was busted for using Stockholms public transit services without a valid ticket today. I was on my way to my therapy group meeting, carrying my pedalboard (which weighs at least half a metric fuckton), and when I closed upon the bus stop I saw a bus I could take that hadn’t departed yet. I ran, because if I made this bus I might remedy my lateness somewhat, and despite being weighed down, pathetically slow and easily fatigued due to lackluster sustenance, I made it. I showed the driver my fake sms-ticket, dumped my pedalboard at an available space next to me and sat down in the front end of the bus.

Whilst contemplating my sprinting feat with satisfaction, a ticket controller dawned on me. I said “no thank you, I’ll just get off at the next stop” as I’ve been taught to do by my local fare-dodging organization Planka, but they was resilient. They aggressively told me that I didn’t know what I was talking about and resentfully asked me if I was joking, and sadly it totally worked. I caved in to the social pressure, showed them my ticket and my ID (I know, stupid, avoidable and unnecessary but I was scared and socially insecure) and they gave me a fine. They also lectured me on my highly immoral behavior and said they was going to send an additional report to the police for my “acid tone”. Obviously that last thing is utter bullshit, that’s clear to me in retrospect, but fuck me if they didn’t evoke nervousness and fear in me there and then.

This ordeal resulted in me missing my therapy (which in turn will yield an additional fine) and getting me into a lousy fucking mood that has yet to completely leave me. I hate SL, I loathe the police and I especially resent the ticket controller who blamed me for the social tension they created with their hostility. I also intensely dislike the bittersweet fact that I might very well have avoided this entire ordeal had I simply taken the next bus. Fuck sprinting when you’re late and fare-dodging.
