still thinking about what an incredible fucking lie this is like jesus fucking christ!!! like holy shit dude!! it's almost not even quite a lie. "i don't know evandrin" technically true, they have never been in contact... "he's not in my realm" also technically true because he's not fucking dead, not truly. the ONLY thing that makes this a lie is the word "because". he must have been a very good man. because. and the implication is so fucking obvious, so clear, that evandrin is dead. of course evandrin is dead. everybody knows he's fucking dead, so to conclude that he's a good man because he is not in hell--JESUS. BUT ASMODEUS KNOWS. asmodeus knows he's not dead yet and the lie is folded so carefully and cleverly into this perfectly logical sentence, this almost-perfectly-true not-promise, simply stating the obvious conclusion to a pair of new facts coupled with a false reality that zerxus doesn't even know he's been operating under. asmodeus lays out a simple truth on the surface of the world and then twists the whole world underneath it to deceive him.
