I kept trying to say the patient's name and they couldn't understand the first name. I ended up just asking for a live agent. But when I kept telling them that the name was wrong, they said, "Oh, my mistake. Let's try that again." It was a bizarre experience.

The creepiest thing about it was there was a noise track going on in the background to make it sound like they were sitting in an office, but there was the same distinct laugh repeating itself every 30 secs.

Anyhow yeah AI is real and it's already taking the place of actual jobs and it's more cumbersome than helpful in these stages. A lot of the pharmacies in my area have started screening calls with AI assistants and I often have to hang up and call a couple times because the fucking assholes can't understand what I'm saying and start going down incorrect prompt paths, but yet when I call back and say the same thing, suddenly it's fine.

Patrols of grey-uniformed John Major dictatorial stormtroops roamed the streets, brutally suppressing any dissent against the new regime. Relentless John Major propaganda blared from every source and peas were mandatory at every meal. Vast bonfires of traffic cones and BSE-infected cattle blotted out the horizon in all directions.

So as a bit of escapism from the John Major dictatorship I now lived under, I listened to a Warhammer audio drama. All the voices and narration were as you might expect, except for Perturabo.

He had Plankton's voice.

People acted like I was the weird one for pointing it out. So far as anyone else was concerned it was just an accepted normal fact that Mr Lawrence-as-Plankton was and always had been the official voice of Perturabo in all Warhammer media.
