i know that ftls is an Iconic fic in the pynch fandom but i think the song linked in the final chapter is utterly underappreciated and i have had it on repeat for days
adamparrush replied to your post: fanfic trope ask: sharing a bed; accidentally...
sharing a bed wouldāve gone so well with the band au slow burn tbhā¦. MISSED OPPORTUNITIES RACHEL
omg...
youāre so right
WAIT
they sort of did? On Adamās 21st birthday? I just didnāt exactly write about it. (Which I have thought about writing out that scene but I donāt know if anyone would ever care to read it when the entire rest of the fic is there.)
I got to spend today with @idreamofhoshi and it was lovely! ā”
sorry if youve already answered this but who/what do greywaren sound and look like? who inspires their music and what genre is it actually? just came across finding that love song and am very curious!
So this is a very boring answer, but the answer is: no, not really, BUT, I did that on purpose.
Thereās a sort ofĀ ājokeā somewhere in chapter 2 (I believe - whenever they find out Blue is a drummer) where Noah, Ronan, and Gansey all describe their sound with a different type of music. I didnāt want to choose one specific genre because I wanted people to imagine their own sound. (And also a bit because Iām no good at descriptions.)Ā
However, I do have an idea for what type of music each of the individual band members listens to. Itās kind of narrowed down to:
Noah --> synthpop/80s inspired (Chvrches, Bleachers)Blue --> a sucker for female musicians and any drum-heavy songs (think Tegan and Sarah, Garbage, Blondie, Keith Moon/The Who)Ā Gansey --> loves his classic, old-man rock that everyone is familiar with (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, and for whatever reason, I am absolutely CONVINCED he would love Phil Collins/Genesis)Ā Adam --> an indie prince, loves anything indie and moody (Sleeping at Last, Seafret, R I T U A L, Bon Ivar, anything Irish sounding because heās a sucker)Ronan --> only god knows/it depends on his moodĀ

adamparrush replied to your post: sorry if youve already answered this but who/what...
blue is so accurate. i would actually switch adam and gansey tbh, iāve always thought of gansey as the indie sad man playing guitar guy with his artsy journal and everything aksdjsakjd and adam as into classic rock
Ahhh, I could see that too! You make a solid argument that is swaying me.Ā
My main thought was that, at least in FTLS, Gansey isnāt supposed to be a music guy. He did the band for Ronan, because he loves him and wanted him to be happy, but unlike Noah/Blue/Adam/Ronan, he doesnāt really have that passion. So I imagined him not even really listening to music (he wouldnāt really seek it out, for example), and only knowing what he grew up listening to. So he kind of parrots out the names he hears/is familiar with, ha.Ā
But in-book Gansey I could for-sure see being the artsy-fartsy sad indie man. I feel like youāre right about Adam either way, he would definitely appreciate the classics. Things heās heard in the garage and etc.
I know there's a lot of typos in FTLS, but how this one slipped by me for so long is beyond me.
When I was writing FTLS, most of the time people got my jokes and commented on them, but there was one that no one pointed out that I still think about and wonder if it just wasnāt very funny or if people didnāt notice it.
