i know some people don’t see it as “that serious” but i personally do not want to disrespect the work medical staff and relief workers do when theres plenty of other symbols to use.

Our emblems are protective symbols in conflict for:

- Medical staff and facilities.

- Red Cross Red Crescent workers, vehicles and facilities.

- The humanitarian relief we bring.

They cannot be misused.

They must not be attacked.

i am aware that its the umbrella term now. here, in the media, even in less “politically aware” circles, its the word to generally describe lgbtq/mogai people. i am also aware people heavily identify with this term and use it to describe themself. this is completely valid. no, i do not think you should be tagging your posts “tw q slur”.

what bothers me is the seeming inability to acknowledge that it was a slur and used as such. what also bothers me is the rampant invalidation and ostracizing of those who do not want to use queer to describe themself and/or do not identify with the term.

“get off my blog if you think queer is a slur.” well it was. for me. by my family members, by my church. you may not see it like that, and thats fine. i use fag and dyke to describe myself, but i wouldnt come into your inbox calling you a fag or a dyke, because maybe you dont use that to describe yourself. maybe youre even uncomfortable with it! its basic consideration.

i would never want any animal to suffer, but i am also a disabled person and a lot of life saving treatments for myself and other disabled people are only possible because of animal testing. any medication you take- animal testing. do you know what that includes? HRT. almost all prescription medications.

sometimes it feels like people are just racing to make new terms before anyone else does rather than putting any passion behind it. it almost feels like a way to streamline flag making rather than put effort into making unique flags if that makes sense?
