As the kids filed out of the classroom Richie saluted them, heels stuck together like he was reporting to his senior officers. A handful giggled as they hiked their backpacks higher and carried on past him down the hallway back to their homes across the compound, one held their hand out for a high five followed by a fist bump. He curled his arm around the doorframe, then Rich slung himself through it and into the room. He had one headphone in, the other dangling down his chest, the cassette player let out a small mechanical whirring as it played on. "Mr. Summers, a dog ate my homework."
