"THORIN!" Bilbo's voice rings over the icy lake, his voice laced with cold unshed tears. "Please, THORIN!" He cries. Deep down he knows it's dangerous to be shouting, but he doesn't care. The cold nips at his cheeks as he continues run over the frozen lake.
Climbing the freezing levels to the top body of water, Bilbo calls Thorin's name out one last time before his eyes land on his small body laying on the ground. His heart drops to the cold lake below him, rushing as fast as his feet can carry him, Bilbo drops to his knees and slides to hover over the body on the ground.
"Thorin?" He cries, tears beginning to slowly roll down his face as he scans the dwarf below him. Bilbo lets out a joyful cry as he hears Thorin release a shuddering breath.
Then a long groan.
Helping him to sit up, Bilbo wipes his cold and now wet face on his sleeve before firing question after question.
"Bilbo," Thorin grumbles, his eyes watching the poor Hobbit's face carefully. "Take a breath. Have you seen Fíli or Kíli?"
Doing as he says, Bilbo releases a long breath before replying, "ah no, I came to look for...." He pauses as he feels a blush creeping onto his cheeks. "No, I uhh, was scanning the lake in hopes to find anyone, i just happened to find you first."
"Well, you wouldn't mind helping me find those two?"
"I—yes of course," Bilbo says, shuffling up onto his feet, his gaze lowered to his hands as they fiddle with the ends of his coat. "I would love to."
"Bilbo," Thorin starts, letting out a soft groan as he stands, towering slightly over the Hobbit. "What's wrong?" He asks, his eyes locking onto the Hobbit fiddling hands before moving up towards his face.
"I...I was just so scared," Bilbo whispers, his hands now clenched around his coat. "I had thought i had lost you, a-and Fíli and Kíli too, but it is so quiet up here, and I hadn't see-en anyone for some time." Tears well in his eyes as he speaks, Bilbo prays that his mess of hair covers it before he feels a warm hand on his shoulder, making him glance up to meet blue eyes.
"I am sorry," Thorin mutters. "Please don't be scared, I'm right here Bilbo, and I will never part from this world," he says in one breath, he feels soft blush rising up his neck but willfully ignores it. "Nor you."
Dropping the edges of his coat, Bilbo hesitantly moves to rest his hand on top of Thorin's, making the poor Dwarf flinch. "By Mahal!" He exclaims, moving to grab Bilbo's hand between his. "You're freezing, we must move before any others come."
With rosy cheeks, Bilbo silently nods and lets Thorin lead the way off of the frozen lake.
