– SHE JUST NEEDS ONE MORE PHOTO OF LUCE, and then she’s done ! honestly, all of these are really photogenic, luce has a cute profile and she thinks after she’s done she could send them to luce, maybe she will post them on instagram. this one is in the national museum of american history, right in front of dorothy’s ruby slippers. probably should’ve checked if her flash was on – stupid automatic thing. “ oh, aren’t they so pretty ? ” she comments absentmindedly, hoping luce will think that’s what she was taking a photo of.
just before midnight, he slipped out to say he’s filling up his water bottle. once the clock hit twelve, he returned with a cake-sized yorkshire pudding with a candle stuck in the middle ( he made it himself, you can tell ). the lights are already off, so he enters the room singing a snippet of stevie wonder’s rendition of happy birthday, squeezes in that she’s his dream girl. holding the ‘cake’ in front of her, a moony smile filling his cheeks, he waits for her to blow out the candle, forgetting he’d gotten those annoying relighting ones. “ don’t forget to make a wish! ”

– THERE’S A LOT TO BE SAD ABOUT, BUT RIGHT NOW, THERE’S ONE THING TO BE GLAD FOR. and that’s lu, who allie practically races across campus to see, pulling her friend close with wet eyes, trying to contain her sniffles. she’s a cryer by nature, but the floodgates are really opened the second that she can wrap her arms around luce, holding her so tightly that if she had the strength she’d probably break her in half. “oh my god,” she breathes, “if i ever have to go three days like that again, i’m keeping a power drill so i can drill holes in the cielings to get to you.”

– IT’S BEEN WHAT? OVER TWO MONTHS OF THIS AGONY BY NOW? and not that he doesn’t think she’s a nice girl, but it’s a bit much. he’s given up trying to switch by now though, so he’s just trying to roll with it and count the days until they’re safe enough to go home and not be watched every second of the day. every time luce talks, he cannot for the life of him figure out why SHE’D be a target – if she has information, she definitely wouldn’t know how to use it. he kind of zones out at what she’s saying because jas has just texted him something and he’s more occupied with reading it – smile tugging at the corners of his lips – than listening to what luce is going on about.
“ what ? oh, no, i don’t wanna watch superbad, it’s almost midnight, ” he remarks, looking at her over his book. somehow, she’s wound up in his room this evening, which is actually fine, because he can do some work in his own space. “ do you play any sports ? i feel like that would help with...getting your energy out ? ”
