Lighthouse, Ft. Casey, Whidbey Island, Washington State, 2004.
location: inside town hall when: post katrina with: @cjmonroe tw: mentions of death, guns
Years of being numbed to the shock of violence and the death that sometimes preceded it had Adriana straight faced and as calm as she ever would be after leaving the second crime scene. It sickened her that once again the town hall had been home to a murder and now, two. One from each side and whether the second was a retaliation blow or not would be determined later. There was nothing more she wanted to be doing than examining the scene but her talents were better used elsewhere. All of the nights attendee’s were still inside town hall and all of them could either be witness or guilty to what had happened. That sucked.
Another officer had been kind enough to bring her a jacket that read POLICE in big bold letters to both cover her up and allow her to come and go from the building. A utility belt now was buckled awkwardly over her dress but being armed, if not even with her own gun, made her feel better. Safer, somehow. Her mask had long been untied and entering the hall again she wasn’t surprised to find half the attendees without theirs as well. Scanning the faces she was looking for Sana, because she’d only just seen her at the beginning of the night and checking on her was the first thing she needed to do. Instead she spotted the next best person who might know and made her way to the side of the room the Disciples had claimed as theirs.
“A moment, please?” Reaching the spot where CJ was standing and raised a brow, needing to speak but wasn’t going to push it. She was sure he was well acquainted with Martin and knew that things were sensitive right now. Then again she wouldn’t be as worried if he hadn’t aligned himself with the two groups that were being looked at first for these deaths.

“I really don’t want to do this.”
Sitting in the front seat of her Jeep, she had her hands clenched tight around the wheel as she sat in the parking lot of Charming Auto. Her knuckles were white and for not giving a damn about the devils she was on their turf and did care. If there had been any other option in town, she’d have taken it. Hell she knew how to change her own tires, do her own oil, and small things that could get her by without going to a mechanic for months. Today was not one of those days and she’d have to bite the bullet no matter how much she didn’t like it. Her baby had crapped out on her, completely shut down on the highway a few miles outside of town and she’d barely avoided being in an accident. Yet today, it had started and been running fine.
Taking a deep breath she let go of the wheel, grabbed her bag, and climbed out the Jeep. The best thing about California was that she was able to keep the top and doors off the car as much as possible. It helped with the heat and quite frankly she just liked the look of it. Covering the few yards between her vehicle and the front door she opened it and walked in. For a place that was usually quite busy givent he amount of cars out front, there was no one inside. Going up to the front desk, she hit her hand on the small round top of the bell that had a sign in front that read ring me for service . After a few taps on the bell, and then a couple of minutes with no response at all, she went back the way she came and rounded the corner to the garage. It probably wasn’t protocol to go in but she didn’t see a sign that said not to.
“Hello-” Calling out a little louder than she normally would speak, drawing out the last vowel of the word. “Does anyone even work here?”
“but he’s just so freaking cute, casey!!” she gushes. she’s been yapping on and on about the two boys she likes for over thirty minutes. adella gets like this rather often. just about every time she invites casey out for coffee she has another person she swears will be the one. and within a few weeks she realizes she doesn’t like them anymore. then it’s someone new. a vicious, never ending cycle of crushes. “look at his face. ah!” she lifts her phone, showing off a picture of her and gabe with so much joy. she appears so happy she could burst. “and you know what? i think he likes me back.” she says that every time. “for real this time.” she clarifies.
the girl takes a sip of her venti iced coffee ( she doesn’t need that much caffeine. she’s energetic enough). “it’s just so weird cause i don’t wanna say he likes me and he doesn’t, cause then i’ll be sad.. and we won’t be friends anymore. ugh. that’s why i like alek. he’s so nice too. almost a little nicer than gabe. it’s so tough, they’re both the sweetest!” they definitely don’t like her back. “what do you think i should do? should i tell gabe how i feel or.. wait till all of this blows over? i’ll die if he gets a girlfriend.” @ofccasey

“ casey? hey! ” the boy called out, picking up his speed to catch up with the other. a more… sane person would probably not eagerly approach an ex they spotted on the street. but, noel has always been a little overly friendly. truth be told, he knew he probably shouldn’t be trying to catch up with casey. as far as he knows the guy wants nothing to do with him. which, noel would be perfectly fine with if it made sense. that very short time they were together, noel swore he did everything right and then some. above and beyond -- and he looked damn good while doing it. he didn’t exactly believe the other’s excuse. maybe that was why he kept hoping he’d rekindle something with casey -- anything. to prove to himself that he really didn’t do anything at all. that the best he could be was enough. “hey! long time no see, how’ve you been..? really good to see you.” he isn’t blissfully unaware of the awkward air between them. but he is blissfully ignorant enough to ignore it and hope it’d go away the longer they spoke. “It’s crazy, the other day i was gonna call you and um,” suddenly, it doesn’t feel wise to complete that story right now. it’s probably best that casey didn’t know he thinks about him when he’s incredibly inebriated and sad. “I didn’t, though… i didn’t! I got a new phone, lost your number so i couldn’t… call you.” that’s a lie. noel is a terrible liar. @caseyfm
