Unable to withstand the cold for very much anymore since the lacrosse game, Jordan spent much of his time afterward, listening to the radio and working dispatch as he used hot water bottle after hot water bottle just to keep warm. He had the audio equipment running in the background, while he fixed himself some instant noodles in the small microwave in his office, but it sounded strangely quiet to him. Officers always used the channel for essential purposes, especially with all the lacrosse game aftermath, but now there was nothing but silence. Confused, Jordan switched the dial to a few different channels and they all came up empty. When he went back to the police channel, he thought he heard something... it was very faint, but it was there.
He grabbed the mouthpiece for the radio and a pair of headphones to make sure he wasn’t hearing anything that might interfere with the sound and called out over the channel. “This is Deputy Parrish. This is a private channel. Request to cease all non-essential chatter.” He listened again, and thought the sound stopped. Must have been some kids messing around with a ham radio. ... but then the sound started up again. A high pitched wailing. He was going to need a second opinion.
He quickly moved through the station to hit up their main tech guy and one of the few officers aware of the supernatural considering he was part of it as well. “Hey, Volt.” He said, trying to keep his tone light. “Can you... check on something for me?”
