BIOGRAPHY  ||  TW: Death 

Always known to have a bright smile, a rather loud giggle, and a girlish air about her. That is how most would have described Sophia before the death of her husband. Known to most that met her to have a kind soul, a sense of humour that perhaps bordered on the inappropriate, and her tender and helpful heart. She was not perhaps the ‘belle’ of the ball, but certainly was not left wanting a dance partner, or a companion to go on a afternoon stroll with.

Though, usually always accompanied by her twin sister, Sophia had a large social circle of friends, all of whom she loved with her whole being. The year she met her husband, was her first season in the Ton. Considered a catch by many, Sophia had not dared think of him as a suitable match in terms of personality upon first meeting him. However, after a few calls, Sophia found Matthew to be a gentle man. A man with a good soul and a zest for life that quite rather rivaled her own.

They were married not four weeks after meeting, and she moved out of her family’s home and to her new home. The transition was an awkward and rather bumpy one, but Sophia managed to do well in her new position as Countess of Cobham. Though they were happily married for 4 years, Matthew and Sophia were childless. Despite trying, she could not give her husband the son he so desired.

In the winter of 1799, Matthew came down with a cold, one that he unfortunately did not take seriously. Despite Sophia’s pleading, Matthew continued about his day-to-day activities, allowing himself to not only get more stressed, but also run down. Bed-ridden, he suffered for the last few weeks of his life, with Sophia by his side every waking moment trying to break his fever.

The day his fever finally broke, was the day that Matthew met the good Lord. Sophia was a widow at 25. Left with a large estate, and no idea how to run it without the help of her husband.

Left alone, Sophia has joined the Ton to aid her sister in finding a husband, hoping that, despite being miserable herself, that her dear twin may find the happiness that she once had.
