Lone wolves ((Au rp with nex-magus))
It was a dark night, with only a sliver of the moon to leave any light at all. Through this darkness, a single girl walked. Clad in a hoodie and shorts, red hair would have been a stark contrast if there had been more light. The only discernible feature of said girl was bright red hues lit up by sparse moonlight. In fact, had it been a full moon or day, one would see that she was rather weary. Her clothes were tattered and a bit muddy, from over wear.
It wasn't as though she was in control of her current state. Or rather, she was in certain ways and not in others. The fact was that she was homeless. This had been the ongoing struggle of Kyouko for thepast few years. However, it was mostly due to her own stubbornness. She had been offered positions in a large amount of guilds, only to systematically shut them down for some reason or another. She didn't get along with others very well, so it had always seemed dumb to her to join a guild filled with people that would eventually just annoy her.
Such problems had began when Kyouko had learned of her capabilities for magic. Her family had been of the extremely religious type. They had hated magic with a passion, and the spunky red head had disagreed. She found magic to be a wonderful and useful thing. It could also be used to protect her family. She had begun to practice with magic behind their backs.
It had all been great until she was discovered. The dishonor her family felt was greater than her own pride for learning magic at all. They called her a witch. Kyouko had never thought it would get so bad. In fact, she thought things would blow over eventually. She was proven wrong. Her father vowed to purge the family over the witch. He killed her sister and mother, and then himself, leaving Kyouko all alone. His last words had told her she would burn in hell when her time came.
To put it short: Kyouko didn't trust others now.
Such circumstances would have ruined most people. However, Kyouko liked to act as though it had all made her stronger, even if it was a lie. She wasn't the kind to admit that she was scared or alone, even if she was.
And so, she trudged on until she came to a clearing in the woods, surrounded by tall indigenous trees. It seemed a safe enough place to rest for a while, to her. Walking wearily to the base of one of the trees, she slid down to sit in tall dewy tresses of grass. Crossing her legs, she pulled an apple out of the small satchel she carried on her hip. With a flash of white, Kyouko took a chunk out of it, savoring the taste as she chewed.
It was very quiet, save for the occasional chirping of a cricket. Fatigued, she finished the apple and threw the core to the side. She then drew a hand accross her mouth to insure that she wouldn't be left sticky. With a sigh, she moved her legs so they were stretched out as she leaned back against the tree and slid her red orbs closed.
She awoke with a start, several hours later, a cold sweat covering her body. She had thought that it was due to her nightmare, however that was proven wrong as she suddenly heard the rustling of footsteps. Quickly she moved to a crouched position and brought a hand to be positioned over the ring on her other hand.
The word came in a hushed whisper as her spear and battle clothes appeared. Shorts were replaced by a red skirt, and the hoodie was replaced by a red jacket. It was all really a precaution. For all she knew, it could be someone harmless. Better safe than sorry.
She watched as a man stepped into her view. Unable to discern his features, all she could really see is that he had dark hair and seemingly pale skin. Slowly, Kyouko stood up, holding her spear at her side.
"What are you doing here?
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ---Go away."
The words escaped her lips even though she realized he was probably traveling and had no interest in her. In made her feel safer in some strange way, with her guard up. Kyouko stood still, red eyes wide while she waited for some kind of response.
