SUBJECT: new follower starter ! CONCERNING: zayne li
as she strapped the bag to her back, she glanced once to zayne, her lips pulled into a thin line. he looked ready. she couldn't help but wonder if she was doing the wrong thing here. her judgement was clouded, her body, slowly, crumbling beneath the effects of raccoon city syndrome. the coughing, the FITS... she can't feign ignorance of the way that it affects him. there's no kind way to watch your mother die, and ada had ill comfort to provide when it felt as if it was still too soon, yet, to go in to that good night. maybe that's why she's willing to go after picking up a message from an old friend in the form of sherry birkin.
it read ; raccoon city. he needs you. potential cure. that was IT.
it was enough. having exhaled, the sort of shaken thing that usually brought concern out of zayne, but there's a steely concentration that grips at her. in telling him her plans, that she was going, that she had SOMEONE to meet out there, because there was a good change that she'd find the cure that she needed... she should have known he'd ask, then, to come along. he's so foolish, when he's already come so far. on the edge of graduating, his life is just on the edge of becoming bright, the way that any parent would wish for their child. but this? while he'd come with her before, the stakes were different. things had to have devolved to unspoken levels within that city by now.
"are you sure?" she'll only ask him once. he's as STUBBORN as her when it comes to these things, and frankly, she wanted to save her strength to fight the undead, not the very person she wanted to live for. perhaps it's a lost cause to try to dissuade him from this motion, but she could try, at least, a dry smile forming her lips as she counted through the bullets, the supplies, that she packed away. "you could be the one waiting at home for me with something nice to eat when i come back, triumphant, rather than trudge through days of blood and viscera far from home."
