The Front Handspring Step-Out (Walkover)
The Front Handspring Step-OutĀ (Walkover)
The Front Handspring step-out, also known as the Front Walk-over in cheerleading and dance is a common skill and one that is used often in combination tumbling passes. It is also considered an elegant skill, if performed correctly, but difficult to learn properly for many athletes. Here I will share my thoughts and techniques that has worked well in teaching this skill.

today I learned that even though I'm 40+ pounds overweight, I can still manage a successful front handspring.Ā
as long as it's only once.
good enough. I'll take it!
also, after that, house advisor Kevin and I did a synchronized roundoff. that was even cooler!
ahhhh. what a time to be alive.Ā

OUR NEW COACH IS TRYING TO TEACH FRONT ENTRY VAULTS WITHOUT AN ARM CIRCLE. I AM SEETHING. YOU DO NOT TEACH A FRONT ENTRY VAULT WITHOUT AN ARM CIRCLE. ESPECIALLY TO YOUNG CHILDREN WHO ARE GOING TO COMPETE COMPULSORIES. I WENT TO a gym for five years where, if we didnāt arm circle on a front entry vault, we were YELLED AT & had to do ROPE CLIMBS as PUNISHMENT because arm circles are the CORRECT FUCKING WAY to enter your hurdle for a front entry vault. I am so mad. So mad. This is just blatantly wrong. Arm circles make life so much easier, they physically MAKE SENSE. itās easier to heel drive with an arm circle, itās easier to get power, itās easier to have a low & far hurdle, itās easier to get your chest up & lift into your vault. Itās easier to MAKE IT OVER THE GODDAMN TABLE. Its the proper way to vault. Iām so mad. So mad. Arm circles are correct. They make sense. They make things easier. Save me from this arm circle-less wasteland.

Another one in the set of rendered acrobatic movements.Ā
Throughout creating this one I encountered trouble only near to the end on the landing, as I have stated in previous posts I didnāt have much to go by on and managed to use pictures orĀ experienceĀ from previous creations.Ā
This clip is the finished front handspring, it took me some time to figure out how to get it to work and even then I had trouble, I didn't have much to go on as when I did the backflip there was a tutorial to go by, with any others produce I either used step by step images and or my own visionary steps. Fist time doing this in the grass! Not as great as it normally is but still super happy!!
