Miranda was hardly expecting a text from Vera, needless to say. Although the gorgon and mermaid were close as friends, usually Vera did not text Miri at this time of night. If anything, the two kept their texting hours in the day, and usually remained as either complaining about lesser monsters or asking advice on something. It was respectable, as were the two, although Miranda did wish she was even closer to Vera. After all, the highly esteemed must stick together, right?
Miranda herself wasn’t doing anything, merely catching up on the news from back home, and she perked her head up at the sound of hissing snakes- her ringtone for Vera’s texts. Quickly picking up her phone, she read through what Vera had sent her.
And Miranda’s blood began to boil.
Hunters were an uncommon sight for merpeople- typically no one wanted to mess with the kingdom, although a few lesser merfolk were picked off to be used in spells or even in soup. It wasn’t a big deal, and so the royals never truly got involved in such a mess, and hunters usually were replaced by assassins for Miranda, not bounty hunters aiming to pin down a proper royal, terrifying as they were when fully grown. Yet her friends were not always as lucky, and that really, really irked Miranda, who quickly texted Vera back a single message.

Heading out, Miranda did not hesitate to grab one critical item, her mind a little blurred by rage to think clearly about what she was planning to do. It was simply a purse which held her usual necessities for a proper murder, some of which being really good earplugs, an enchanted bag to dull the senses, a good assortment of knives and weapons, and a few vials of poison. Standard stuff for her, really, but she knew exactly what she was going to do when it came to punishing the person who thought it okay to dare mess with her friends.
The chariot Miranda summoned certainly was going well above the speed limit- but why worry about the cops when you’re a princess? Really, she arrived at the abandoned theater in record time, quickly stepping out and having her serfs drive the chariot a few miles away, just to make sure they wouldn’t be affected by what was coming. She had to search around for a bit (considering the doors were locked to keep people out- something that always failed), but once she found it, there was no hesitance in the way Miranda pushed her way through a makeshift entrance in the side of the building. Yeah, it was definitely cold in here, and Miranda shivered slightly, but she had a natural antifreeze in her blood and did not have to worry about the same sluggishness that Vera would. Not to mention she had grabbed a jacket, which sat snugly around her shoulders.
Now she just needed to find Vera.
