top 5 bleachers songs <3

you see me <3

i have gone through phases with so many of their songs, but i’m going to pick the 5 that stuck with me the most.

1. chinatown ft. bruce springsteen. i discovered this band/song from someone posting about it on it’s release date. it got me through quarantine and the rest of high school. truly my most beloved bleachers song and one of my favorite songs of all time.

2. 45. this was released on the same day as chinatown and had the same effect to a lesser degree. i own the 45’ with these two songs and i adore it.

3. isimo. i don’t even have the words to talk about this one. the way jack talks about love. “look at you, you made it out.” yeah.

4. dream of mickey mantle. honestly all of gone now is like one song to me <3 but this one is just so cool. the way it references the other songs, the way it perfectly starts what is arguably a concept album…

5. wake me. my favorite song to hear live, which is why it’s on here.

all my love to all their other songs too. sorry i cannot accurately describe what i like about them. i am an objective hater but a subjective lover. when i love something, it’s just pure joy for me.

because it’s like lila’s existence in the world lets her hear the music. she shows it to elena (because she gives her the world). elena finds it so beautiful that she has to capture that music (and lila). the most important thing is that it isn’t objective. it’s captured through elena’s perspective (her book). lila gives her the world and elena makes lila and that world real!
