One of my coworkers was making a drink where the customer had specifically requested that foam be put at the bottom of their drink (which doesn’t really work but whatever), and my coworker did what they asked.

They watched the foam partially rise to the top before dissipating, and then said “It just bubbled to the top”. To which I replied, “Well of course, it’s not frobscottle.”

And then everyone just stared at me like I was crazy, and I had to explain to my whole group of coworkers that frobscottle is a kind of fizzy drink that the giants in The BFG drink where the bubbles go down instead of up and makes you fart instead of burp. And then another coworker said “well shit, it really isn’t frob-whatever you said”.

So I asked more coworkers today, and no one else knew what I was talking about. I also asked my husband who also had no idea.

The odd sight of BFG’s “frobscottle” – a green fizzy drink where the bubbles go down instead of up, speaks to the tonal dissonance that normally shouldn’t work in this feature film.
