sabrina’s eyes flare up like WILDFIRE as she looks at the jock on the ground in front of her. a fiery rage is blasting through her, & she can feel the calling of her inner witch - the tiny devil on her shoulder, whispering dark plans into her ear. do it. make him suffer. but jughead’s voice cuts through that, & makes her hesitate for the first time all evening. but the things he says are not at all what she expects. instead of begging her to stop he is implying that even if she goes through with it he will not stop her nor judge her. her tiny hands, which previously were held up in front of her, fingers pointing downwards slightly towards the boy who has been bullying her & her friends at riverdale for as long as she can remember.
THE DARKNESS IS AWAKENING. sabrina can feel it, & it terrifies her. the part of her that longs for a little revenge seems to be growing, exponentially so. the voice of a good friend, however, is pulling her back, making her think about what she’s doing & the inevitable consequences it will have in the future. a deep breath is drawn in through partially parted lips, & she stops for the first time the entire evening to really think about if what she’s doing is worth it. yet again for the first time, her head turns so that her gaze can fall on jughead. he does not look afraid of her, nor does he look happy. instead he looks INDIFFERENT, which is almost worse. her hands begin to shake & the fury inside her begins to dissipate. she focuses entirely on him, trying to convince herself that despite any hatred she may have towards the mortal in front of her, that does not mean jughead should have to be here for her wrath. a deep breath - then one more. her eyes momentarily flicker back to the boy in front of her, & she whispers a spell under her breath - to erase his memory. if he is to escape unharmed he cannot remember what she is.
the boy’s eyes roll back into his head & he collapses back on the grass, about to sleep off about six hours of constant manipulation from sabrina’s powers. suddenly a wave of emotion comes over her, & she finds herself back to her normal self. tears well up in her eyes as the gravity of the situation sinks in, & she realizes there’s a m o n s t e r buried underneath sabrina spellman’s kind, bubbly, determined attitude. swallowing a sob & feigning it as a cough, she turns to jughead, face falling into an expression of guilt. ' jug... ' she whispers, & without another word wraps her arms around him, burying her face into his shoulder so her silent tears can come undisturbed.
