Looking for a place to watch a Black Hawks, Bears, Bulls, Cubs, or White Sox game? Look no further, Choppers Bar and Grill in Antioch is the place you want to be. We have driven past this little gem many times in our journeys to The Chain of Lakes. However, we have never stopped because it looked like a small and the parking lot was always full. On Sunday we were on our way home from the Fox Lake area and we were looking for a place to stop to get a quick breakfast and Bloody Mary. We thought of a few places we often frequent, but when we came across Choppers Bar and Grill on route 173 in Antioch. We thought it looked busy, but we decided to try it out for a change. We were pleasantly surprised! We walked in the door Kim (who we later learned was the manager) greeted us like we were old friends. The restaurant is larger than it appears from the road. There were even seats at the bar, which were our seats of choice this trip.
Our drink orders were filled quickly and their Bloody Mary was excellent. They use their own recipe, but they are willing to change it up for your likes and dislikes. One person did not like horseradish, they quickly whipped up a Bloody Mary without horseradish. All the bartenders/waitresses/patrons were fun and friendly. It felt like we had been a regular at this restaurant bar for years!
We ordered breakfast and it was served fast, hot, and fresh. I am sorry there are no pictures, but it was 11:00 a.m. and I was starving, I devoured my meal before I even thought about a picture! I can tell you the corned beef hash and eggs were amazing. We enjoyed our breakfast and soon the Bears game was playing on the large screen T.V.s located throughout the bar and restaurant. We were having such a good time we decided to stay for the game instead of doing the planned Christmas shopping.
Look at all the soups for today! So hard to decide!
Philly Cheese Steak and Shrimp Corn Chowder
During the game we ordered two of their many homemade soups (see image above)! Oh MY! These soups were delicious! I can honestly say, I love soup and never had better soup anywhere.
We are huge lovers of this bar and grill! We will definitely be back to Choppers for breakfast, soup, and football! I can’t wait to try more of their homemade dishes.
