So I started this slightly before novemember tenth, which is the day the Edmund Fitzgerald sunk and all 29 crew members were lost. I’ve had a fascination with ore freighters ever since I could remember so this guy’s long overdue.
Lakefront is technically an Autobot combiner, although it’s a little more complicated than that. Their individual bots are more neutral-aligned if anything. Beacon is a scrappy femme mini on (think Nickle personality wise) who heads up the team. Taconite and Starboard are both regular sized. Starboard’s the only flyer on the team. They were fleeing a war ravaged Cybertron in a stasis pod in their combined form when they crash landed in the port of Duluth where they chose their combined altmode; an ore frieghter.
For the humans who man their altmode Lakefront is something of a war hero to them. They’d regularly tell stories of victories and trying times for entertainment on long hauls. Lakefront can easily navigate any height of wave or any strength of storm. They’re something of a cryptid among the Laker mariners especially for those who’ve only heard rumors of an alive ship on the lakes.

Spent some time tonight downtown on the east side of the river shooting some time lapses and long exposures. We have a beautiful city! The Schoonmaker looks especially cool at night in the frozen river.
ALPENA, MI – The freighter Mississagi was docked on the mouth of the Thunder Bay River early this evening unloading salt.
Officially the winter of 2013/2014 is over but that is not stopping Alpena from getting stocked up for the next big blast.
The freighter Mississagi can been seen unloading tons of salt that will be covered with tarps until it is needed next fall. This is one of the first ships of the year to dock in the river.
