NOT A "BOY"

So I see this pop up every once in awhile, but I'm new enough I've never seen real civil discussion around it. So I thought, why not? And I hope I got the right ep number.

"Forget about her, we need to get back to Mistral." - That's not the exact quote, feel free to add it, but it is close. I've seen folks cherry pick the line with no context to argue Adam doesn't care about finding Blake and he has washed his hands of her. I disagree with some minor scene and character analysis.

1. Adam isn't stupid. He is a very intelligent and street smart man. He and his men are in a makeshift camp. He and Blake just attacked an SDC shipment and did lots of damage to SDC property. The authorities will start looking in the area. They need to move.

2. Adam had his men looking for her after she ran. Could have been a few hours, could have been a few days. But he does want her back or he wouldn't have been looking in the first place.

3. His lieutenant apologized in an almost fearful way for not having found her yet but promised they would. His man knows this is an important order.

4. Again, Adam isn't stupid. He knows Blake probably isn't in the area anymore and he's pressed for time. He knows where her family is. He knows HER very, very well. There are WF eyes all over Remnant. He isn't pressed to find her right that moment. He's arrogant enough (I say this with love) that he may even believe she'll come crawling back.

I personally interpret that scene to be a man not worried because he knows he'll eventually get her back. But there are currently more pressing issues at hand. Adam was a good strategist and he knew how to prioritize. You don't see this slip until his power and control start to slip. Blake defying him began that. It's a common thread throughout history of leaders who fixate on one goal at the expense of their kingdom, only to lose that kingdom for their stubbornness. That's what happened to Adam. The further she got, the more she defied him, the angrier and more obsessed he became.

Eons ago in high school I ran a studyblr with the terrible url mnmlstmscn (I still love it I’ll be honest - bragging rights to whoever can figure out what the fuck that says). This was back in 2014 or so, when that now massive community was in its infancy. In general I found it incredibly motivating but I did something called mnmlstmscn’s friday review (this had it’s own fun header and everything) where I went over the wins from the week and my general productivity.

I think I’m going to bring this back in a slightly more plain format. A part of me wants to journal this but I think the public accountability will be good (so says Cal Newport anyway). These may end up being lengthy so I’ll probably put something pithy in every week but the actual review will be under the cut.
