Another one from the Friction Division files. One day while in Joe's basement in the fall of 2009 he played me this short opening bass line, needing help with adding shit to it. I pulled what follows out of my ass within seconds. The song itself was practically done within maybe an hour. Probably the gloomiest, most depressing shit I ever wrote for this band. There'd be times where Huston would intentionally shut the lights off and turn the small, red light on in the room we played in at Danny Screams Studios in Brooklyn. Another impromptu edition of Late Night Jams With The Angry Metalhead. Here's a song I gave to Friction Division in April (I think) 2013. I wouldn't complete it, however, until maybe a week or two after I left the band. It also was most likely the last I ever completed a song. I made a YouTube video of the song upon its completion. I called it "Goodbye Under The Clouds", partially because the aura it has tends to make me imagine a really bad breakup in some real gloomy weather. Think Seattle. Here's probably the most intense song I ever gave to Friction Division back in November (I think) 2009, back when we still didn't have a name. I wrote it very quickly, minus the breakdown ending. I took it to Joe's house to jam on and it was him that suggested that the song needed to wind down before coming to an end. So I just kept my fretting hand on that last chord and went from there. To follow up on what I just came up l, Joe came up with a bass HARMONY line that worked PERFECTLY, providing the sad aura I was looking for. We recorded it for our 2010 demo but I don't think we played it again after December of that year. Would've loved to have on our line EP. "Your Decision" of Alice's 2009 comeback album/masterpiece Black Gives Way To Blue. I played this album repeatedly to the point that it would've gotten a restraining order on my ass if it could. I also got #frictiondivision to cover this track once or twice in 2010. While looking for pictures for last night's Booboo tribute I can across this. This is a picture from my last band's third show at the now defunct Trash Bar in Brooklyn back in December 2010. Susan Potoroka, the woman who took this picture, definitely had some sick timing, even if this wasn't necessarily what she was going for.
