Her first work, Until It Sleeps, starts shortly after Bucky, still fragile and rife with PTSD, moved in with Steve. It catalogs the first stage of Bucky’s recovery from Hydra’s tentacles, of which many still tenaciously adhere to his psyche. With the help of his devoted Steve, Bucky begins the road to recovery. It is an entire story within itself and reads as such.
The second book, In A Little While, Bucky, with the love and dedication of Steve, as well as Avenger friends, recounts his traumatic past to a tribunal presiding over one of his tormentors. Recovery isn’t linear; it branches and branches due to the cancerous nature of Hydra, and the many decades it took to infiltrate nearly every cranny of 21st century humanity. Another entire story within itself.
The present work, A Life Less Ordinary, embraces the future with the arrival of Bucky’s and Steve’s children, and the lengths the parents will go to protect them. Meanwhile, unraveling the deepest tentacles of Hydra, that hearken back to WWI, they learn more about their fathers, Joseph Rogers and George Barnes, and the horrors they experienced in WWI.
It’s epic. But it draws readers in and won’t let them go. For lovers of plots and twists, this is the series for you!
First work I ever read on AO3, and it still has me gripping the edge of my seat!
