Friendly reminder to anyone out there who is planning to attend WorldCON in-person or virtually that there are only three weeks left until nominations close for the Hugo Awards! So, if you were a member of WorldCON last year (in Seattle) and/or you bought your membership for this year before January 31, you can nominate your favorite stories for the awards!
The Hugo Award is for science fiction and fantasy (or other subgenres under the speculative umbrella). This is the one that fans vote on, not some committee. There are categories for books, movies, short stories, and a bunch of other media. Voting for this year (2026) is for works that were published last year (2025). You can learn more about the awards here: https://www.thehugoawards.org/
I'm putting out this reminder because Cinder House by Freya Marske came out in 2025 so it's eligible for the Bet Novella category this year and it's an absolutely brilliant book and you should totally read it and nominate it if you can. Haven't thought about the other categories yet, but I'm doing a nomination even if it's just for this one story.
