hi! how is it being a criminology student? I’m thinking of doing it and minoring in forensic science when i go to uni (18 months from now eek!) but idk if It’s a good fit. i love law and learning about it, did really well the two years i studied it but I’m just not sure if It’s the right path for me. can u maybe tell me a little about what you do/study as. criminology student? I’d really appreciate it! i hope you’re doing well :)
hello! i enjoy criminology as i’ve always been interested in crime and things related. i mostly study issues in criminology, for example, the overrepresentation of indigenous australians in the criminal justice system, as well as learning about the cjs overall (punishment, alternatives to incarceration), and we have touched on why crime occurs and possible motives of those who choose to commit a crime. it’s definitely not as fascinating as most people think, as it’s the study of crime itself rather than focusing on “true crime”, which is a common misconception people have.
at my uni we also have to take research courses which are more general and focus on research skills rather than criminology specifically. the research courses are much more dull than crim courses as they mostly consist of the same thing which is writing research reports and conducting your own research.
one bonus of studying criminology is that the workload is not as heavy as other courses and the assessments are heavily based on your writing and critical thinking skills. i would say it is not a particularly difficult course to study as well, in my opinion and when comparing it to studying law.
i would say, if you’re really interested in studying crim, research it a bit more to understand what it really is and also go to university open days so that you can actually ask questions and have them answered by lecturers and students that study crim.
i hope this helped! if you have any more questions feel free to inbox me again :)

One of the trial things in this journal are these postcard pages, that are ADORABLE. I love being able to keep postcards that are meaningful to me (or ones that are cute) and put them inside my journals. Hopefully I actually like using these pages as I am journalling--but i guess we'll just wait and see !
My wall can only host so many postcards before it gets cluttered :)
looking back at old photos, I kind of miss summer and the warm weather 🍊

nicole
Nicole is a young name, a glowing name, a name of light coming out of darkness. Nicole is candlelight, Nicole is cinnamon buns, Nicole is warm and gentle and welcoming. Nicole feels like handwritten letters from a friend, like smiles from kids in the park, like peeling a clementine. Nicole tells you to wait, just a little bit longer: things will get better.
sometimes you’re mean. and that’s ok. sometimes someone just gets on your nerves or catches you at a bad time and you snap. and that’s ok. i know my blog preaches kindness but you can’t change overnight. i wasn’t a very nice person a few years ago and i’ve been actively working on being a kind person, i feel like i’ve accomplished this. but sometimes i break a little and do something mean or say something mean and feel really bad. what’s important isn’t that you never make these mistakes, it’s that you keep trying after you make them.
