Chou it is then :)
No, no, French OB you're doing it all wrong! If during season 1 you translated meathead by tarée, you keep it. You don't switch for tête vide (which is a totally invented insult ANYWAY, you could at least have went for something like tête à viande which is more literal) because it fits you. You're losing all the echo value, god dammit.

Leekie literally calls Beth "Besssssssss" like a snake and it kills me
"Je suis tres souvent en retard, alors, je suis tres souvent desolee" DYINGGG and she also says it in a very informative, explaining voice and I AM SO SORRY FRANCOPHONE OB FANS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE TRUE EXPERIENCE.
No "cold turkey asshole" for our French ob watchers, tragically. Instead, Cosima says "C'est donc toi la connasse" ("so then it's you who is the bitch/asshole") and Delphine replies ""Une grosse salope" en fait qu'il a ajouté" ("a big slut," he actually added) which is pretty damn tragic but they laugh because this exchange is followed by laughter in the English-speaking version. But Delphine still gets to call Cosima "cheeky" -- "culotté" en français
OMG the voice for Leekie is sooooo different. And he tells Cosima that she could be "tous les couvertures des magazines scientifiques", rather than the "cover of Scientific American." ~little cultural differences in translation make me happy~ But also she delivers the line about how science magazines don't put scientists on the cover with more punch than our lord and savior TMas, which actually gets the point across--about how she's more than a test subject, but rather a scientist and a human being--quite effectively.
The fact that the voice actors for Olivier and Paul have such difficulty saying "Beth Childs" is hilarious. They really try saying most names, but with Beth I think they've given up and decided that she is Bess now.
And in the adorable and awkward and ~oops~ first kiss scene, we hear "Don't you think...it's about time we admit what this is really about" = "Tu crois pas...qui sait peut-être qu'on met à l'evidence ?" which roughly means "Don't you think...who knows...what we make of the evidence?" which is really interesting phrasing. And "j'ai fait un connerie" = "did I make a huge mistake" which is absolutely hilarious because "fait un connerie" is "screwed up/messed up" but more literally translates to "make a bullshit" which is glorious.
GoOD LORD I CANNOT WAIT to see how "transgressive lesbian geek spiral" is translated. Stay tuned.

« Je dois devenir quoi ? La geek de service ? » That is supposed to be Geek Monkey and I want to call the dubbers and be like "Yo that's not even colloquial English so calling her « un singe geek » would've been totally fine and so once again the French OB-watchers miss out on another key inside joke.
Also the joke about "doing a jogging" gets lost in translation because that's literally what it is...and once again the adorable French charm gets lost. Heartbreaking.
« Surveillance de quartier » is "neighborhood watch" I don't know why I find it funny (it's honestly a really good translation) but I do
ajslkjdaiejrljdlkj I HATE THAT LAST SEEN WITH DELPHINE AND LEEKIE UGH I AM ALWAYS IN DENIAL CUZ EW.
That's the latest of my binge watching of French OB. xoxo bisous
S1E5 « Conditions d'existence »
OMG SCOTT'S VOICE IS WAY LOWER AND MANLY THAN I EXPECTED
French crying Delphine is a much uglier crier than Canadian Delphine.
Also in the adorable interaction with Delphine and Cosima, lots of cuteness is lost in translation. For one, Cosima doesn't have to explain "Evo Devo." And Cosima replying « Enchantée » is less precious out of English-speaking context.
When Vic le pathétique says to Allison's kids "Stay in school," in French he says « Travaillez bien à l'école » which I'm going to go ahead and misconstrue as a commentary on how truancy is not as big a problem in France and the idea of staying in school is second nature
S1E4 « Le lien »
« c'est pas Besssss...c'est pas Bessssss.... » is somehow significantly creepier with French Helena than "I'm not Beth" being repeated by Tatiana Maslany Helena
Also French with a Ukranian accent is hella weird.
idk man « un ange en colère » really isn't as punchy as an "angry angel."
Allison visiting Kira
1). Interesting that Kira addresses Allison with « vous » when she realizes that she is not Sarah (ie she says « Vous n'êtes pas ma mère »
2). Instead of "monkey...bum...face?" Allison calls her « poussin péteur » and for all of you non-french speaking folks that essentially means "farting chicken" and I'm dyING
Confrontation of Sarah and Helena in Maggie Chen's apartment: Sarah saying « Qu'est ce qui t'es arrivé Hélèna ? » is not nearly as punchy as "What happened to you, Helena?" and I don't know why but it just isn't...
OMG THE SOUND THAT ALLISON MAKES IN FRENCH TO SIGNIFY "OY" GIVES ME LIFE. IT IS SO TERRIBLE OMG. Can someone please tell me how to record a clip of something playing on my computer?
