Chapter: Art for Freedom Yesterday, I (along with my awesome bros) dyed my armpit hairs pink and purple. I wanted to announce the reason why, it has a purpose, one I support strongly. I have three children. Two of them girls. One of them a hairy girl. I want to be a part of changing the culture we are a part of to make it more accepting and natural. I wouldn't like my daughter to grow up into a hairy woman that consistently hears that hair is not okay, not attractive, undesirable and that the only acceptable way to deal with it is to remove it, harshly, extensively, time consumingly, frequently and in all circumstances. Girls reach puberty and gain hair. It is womanly. I'd like her and all young girls to know that is is natural, normal and a part of womanhood. Also, that a woman's body isn't an object for ridicule, assessment, just for sex and the like. It is the casing in which we live and it is for carrying us through life. Bodies don't need to be idolized but I think they need to be appreciated, cared for and accepted in the forms they are. So this is why this week my armpits make a boldly coloured statement. So definitely reccomend any girl who wants to participate in  no shave november to do it! You are beautiful! if your partner thinks it’s gross, leave them. you don’t need all that negativity. The movement is for a good cause. Plus you might prefer it. DO IT. NO SHAVE NOVEMBER.
